Sí, me está costando acostumbrarse a las tapas y las cañitas en las terrazas madrileñas, Sant Cugat no tiene comparación.

¡Gracias!

Well, you may know Accesoweb, a yahoo list where many of the Sidar members meet to answer questions about accesibility, techniques and tools that anyone can send. Some of them are disabled users (not the best term to call them, but I´d have to look for the right one in english).

About the legal actions, we don´t agree at all. Spanish law´s from 2007, and still only 3% of website validate. Anybody must be able to use public websites; there´s a lot of burocracy that only can be made through them. To me, they got the right to the legal actions, and those who doesn´t pay attention to accesibility should pay (maybe no money, but in some others way...I don´t know).

And I think I don´t get what you say about developers. I know some of them who study by themselves to do a good work, keeping accesibility in mind. You can´t expect to be tought by somebody to do a proper job, in any area...at least that´s what I think.

Sorry again for my english.

Wow, thanks for your reply. I am still amazed that I could only find one or 2 such events in Spain and I was really "hungry" to attend it. Maybe if there were more...you could choose between events oriented towards programmers, managers, gov agencies, etc...You know, like convince the managers about the ROI due to adopting accessibility (we are talking about 1 billion dollars market here), teaching programmers how to implement and test, teaching gov agencies how to do the same, etc.

One event for the entire Spanish speaking community is almost nothing - and I am saying this because very few people can travel every year to attend SIDAR in South America, Spain or whatever...So this is why we were so frustrated I guess, we were having great expectations and they served us information that we already knew or we could have read on the web. And it definitely wasn't necessary for 2-3 speaker to say the same thing: that WCAG 2.0 is split into principles, guidelines, etc. It reminded me of what an old teacher of mine used to say: "People who can't do, teach" :D

And I was also amazed that everybody who was bragging about how accessible their sites were did NOT perform even one test on real people. And I am convinced that those sites were not accessible :(

I was also amazed on how much ...hate (this word is too strong) I could observe on the "Nada sin el usuario" session when we were threatened with legal actions against non-accessible website. Come on!!! Nobody is teaching programmers about implementing accessibility!!

I agree with your regarding the W3C speakers, they were just trying to help...sorry I got carried away :)

I was thinking that we, programmers, should find a place to meet and chat about accessibility problems...but then I remembered that the Accessibility group on Xing is dead and got cold feet.
